Upon completion, a graduate takes the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to become a registered nurse (RN).
What Are The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Requirements?
To get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, you must attend an accredited program, either from a traditional brick and mortar institution or through one of the best online Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree programs. BSN programs allow nursing hopefuls with no experience to get licensed and offer current RNs a chance to expand and update their knowledge of the nursing field. Applicants must have a high school diploma with a decent GPA. A background in science and mathematics is a plus. Some programs may wish to take a look at ACT or SAT scores. RNs wishing to pursue a BSN must be currently licensed and have an associate’s degree or diploma in nursing. Prospective nurses will complete four years of the degree program, then they must pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) before getting licensed.
Indiana University requires a minimum of 125 credit hours at a minimum 2.0 GPA. Indiana University nursing students must complete the nursing program in six years or less. Ohio State University’s College of Nursing requires the student to enroll as a nursing major before he or she can take courses. Students must complete a minimum of 121 credit hours to earn their BSN from Ohio State. Part-time enrollment is possible, but lengthens the time for completion. Capital University has an accelerated Bachelor’s of Science program, through which you can earn your BSN in as few as four semesters. Capital allows students to begin hands–on work at a hospital as early as their sophomore year.
